Making Sense of EU Information Seminar Held in Batumi


On June 26-27 the Making Sense of EU two-day information seminar was conducted for Batumi State University students and professors. The EU institutions, the role of EU in the global policy and EU cooperation with Georgia were discussed in the course of the seminar.

The workshop was organized within the framework of Internews Georgia project Making Sense of EU funded by EU. The overall goal of the project is raising awareness of the Georgian youth about EU structures and characteristics of EU work.

Within the framework of the project seminars will be held for students and professors in six different cities across Georgia (Gori, Kutaisi, Batumi, Telavi, Zugdidi, Akhaltsikhe).The workshops have already been held in Gori and Kutaisi.

The seminar speakers included Vasil Chkoidze, President, Centre for European Integration Studies, Kakha Gogolashvili, Director, Georgian-European Policy and Legal Advice Centre (GEPLAC), Robin Liddell, First Councilor, Head of Political, Economic and Press Section, EC Delegation to Georgia and Lika Glonti, Head of national Tempus office.

In the course of the seminar the students were shown the documentaries on the EU activities. The discussions were held as well.

Upon the completion of the seminar ten participants prepared the thesis on EU-Georgian relations. The best authors were awarded with prizes – MP3 players. All seminar participants were awarded certificates.
