Training Course in TV Reporting on Children Issues. Tbilisi, December 7-16, 2009


Internews Georgia, in cooperation with Radio Netherlands Training Center (RNTC, the Netherlands) and Media Development Center (MDC, Bulgaria) welcomes applications for a ten-day training course in TV reporting on children issues. 12 TV journalists are eligible to take part in the training. Upon the completion of the course the participants will be awarded certificates.

The application deadline is November 25, 2009.


The training course is being conducted within a three-year project - Georgian Initiative for the Enhancement of Broadcast Training Activities – fully supported by the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs within the framework of MATRA Programme. The overarching goal of the project is to enhance the educational and informational role of electronic media in the civil society-building process in Georgia.

The training course programme and methodology has been worked out by four local trainers with the support of Bulgarian and Dutch partners. The course goes well with the Georgian reality and responds to the local needs. The training course to be conducted by four local trainers (Nino Orjonikidze, Nino Japiashvili, Tamar Ghvinianidze and Salome Jashi) reflects local needs.

The training course goal and structure:

The up-coming theoretical and hands-on training course is to be conducted for mid-career TV journalists. The goal of the training course is to develop the participants’ skills in TV reporting for news outlets (children-related issues). The application process will identify 12 journalists. The course is free. The organizers shall cover the travel and lodging expenses (including three meals per day) for the journalists from regions. The course participants from Tbilisi will be provided dinner and coffee breaks. Under the terms of the training the participants shall attend the full course (10 working days). In case of the breach of this term the participant will be denied to attend the course and/or be expelled.

Requirements:

-Applicant should have higher education and at least 2-year working experience (as a reporter, news reporter) and currently employed at a regional or national TV company;
-The participant’s employer company is to be engaged in the production of regular news.
-Applicants should be willing to learn or improve professional skills and attitudes in TV and radio reporting; should be proactive and motivated.

Internews Georgia also invites recent postgraduates to take part in the training course.

How to apply:

Applicants are requested to submit the following documents:
•A resume/CV demonstrating their professional and academic achievements (in the Georgian language);
•A cover-letter (a letter of motivation) explaining why they would like to participate in the course and how they are going to utilize the acquired knowledge and skills at work and outside of it (in the Georgian language). The text should not exceed 200 words.
