The cover of the supplement devoted to two important events occurred recently. In the first article on the front page, journalist outlined the issue of the appointment of EU’s New Foreign Policy Chief Baroness Catherine Ashton and her performance in the European Parliament. The author discussed the details of the hearings stressed on her diplomatic skills and policy making methodology. Specifically, journalist paid attention on her policy priorities with regard to the Eastern neighbourhood.
The second opening article touched upon the press conference, which has recently occurred in Tbilisi Marriot Hotel. The head of the EU delegation in Georgia presented 20 winner projects and Non Governmental Organisations, who has been awarded by grants from the EuropeAid. The author of the article discussed the specificities of the programme and the grant competition wherein the Civil Society representatives submitted their applications. Also, journalist went through the major projects and summarized the projects and aims of the winner organisations.
Another article has been devoted the Questions and Answers on Eastern Partnership. And the questions were crucial in a sense that it addressed to all main issues related to EaP. This very article was a translation and journalist deemed it as an important due to the high interest of Georgian society, thus it was rather comprehensive and the article covered the entire page of the supplement.
The first article on the last page of the supplement devoted to the Spanish presidency and the priorities they set up for the term of its presidency. In the article the author delved into the changes in the European Union and stressed on the institutional reforms made in the EU after the Lisbon Treaty came into force. Journalist mainly paid attention to the danger that Spain as a country, which was an active supporter of the Mediterranean Partnership, thus there were some fears that Spain might have paid less attention to Eastern partnership. But after the statements made by the Spanish leadership, the perceptions became stable. Moreover, Spain claimed that EaP would be one of the top priorities of its presidency.
The last page of the supplement dedicated to the inquiry of Georgian government to the European Union. Vice Premier Minister Giorgi Baramidze sent an official letter to the European Union and asked for active participation in monitoring process of the election which is presumed to take place in upcoming May. According to the Georgian government, that will lower the fraud possibilities of the election and the summary made by the EU would be a way more trusted by the Georgian society and opposition politicians as well.
