The project “Regional media in line with new media” was initiated by the “Publicity Group” and financially supported by the “Open Society Georgia Foundation”.

The workshop aimed to help the journalists to acquire the photo and vide reports preparation skills, as well as theoretical and practical knowledge. In addition, photo-video recorders were given to all the editorial offices as gifts, which will support the REGIONS.GE to have more interesting photo and video reports in the future. 16 journalists, representing the printed media of Adjara, Guria, Imereti, Kakheti, Samegrelo, Samtskhe-Javakheti, Qvemo Qartli and Shida Qartli regions, attended the workshops.

The first day was dedicated to photo journalism. The workshop was leaded by Leli Blagonravova – the program coordinator of the journalism and media management of the School of Caucasus, GIPA. The journalists studied the basic skills of preparing the video reports on the second and third days. Afterwards, they prepared brief records on various acute problems and edited them. The workshop was managed by Irakli Berulava, The expert and producer of the “Internews” Foundation. The specialists presented the topics from the perspective of new media and focused on the impact of the Web-technologies on photo and video journalism.

Before the organization of the mentioned workshop, the management of the REGIONS.GE conducted a survey among the partner newspapers to find out why was their participation in these type of workshops interesting and useful.

The Editors outlined that acquiring the photo and video reporting skills would substantially support the enriching and improving of the photo and video sections of the REGIONS.GE. The workshops were also followed by the survey, where the journalists claimed that the workshops were useful, for they were given the chance to see the both fields from the new perspective, which will have positive influence on the activities of their newspapers, as well as development of the REGIONS.GE project in general.
